Kindergarten

Welcome to Kindergarten. Everything you ever need to know you canlearn in Kindergarten. In 1974 during a lecture to tens of thousands of people at a "pandal", tent, program in New Delhi, India, Srila Prabhupada lectured for a long time o the intricacies of religion and philosophy. And then he finished by saying, "So just chant Hare Krsna and take Bhagavat-prasadam. Nothing else, no other thing, needs to be done. You will become perfect".
We are spiritual beings caught by the mind in the material atmosphere. This is the advice of all religious teachers. Mantra means to take, "tra", the "man", mind out of the material atmosphere -- Mantra. In the Vedas this Hare Krsna maha-mantra is mentioned several times as the very best:
Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare
but, because we are so degraded and egotistic it is even better to precede this by the "Panca-tattva mantra" which names Sri Krsna Caitanya and his principle associates. They are all incarnations of the Supreme Lord in His different incarnations and expansions:
Sri Krsna Caitanya, Prabhu Nityananda, Sri Advaita
Gadadhara, Srivasa-adi-gaura-bhakta-vrnda
Anybody who chants this Panca-tattva maha-mantra and follows it with the Hare Krsna maha-mantra has achieved the perfection of life. Try it! But the tongue has tow functions: Talking and tasting. They both engage the mind and they both take us to hell... or heaven if we use them properly. We have talking under control. Don't waste time. Chant Hare Krsna. But what about tasting?
Only taste, take the remnants of food offered with love as a sacrifice to God, Krsna. Cook or offer fruits and roots to Him daily. And then take the remnants of the offering as "prasadam", mercy. then we will be elevated by the tongue.
But Krsna doesn't accept meat, fish or eggs. This is unnecessary violence on our fellow beings. So don't offer and therefore don't take these things -- Good karma!
Isaih - If you have met a man who has controlled his tongue, you have met a perfected man... Thou shall keep in perfect freedom him whose mind is stayed in Thee.
So, if you've read and appreciated this you have finished Kindergarten. Do it. If its not true it won't work and you can go looking some place else for the absolute truth.
If you feel some reciprocation then go on to Primary class etc. But, always remember they are just details on this first lesson. In this Krsna consciousness movement three things are very important: Chanting, dancing and feasting.
But - How to feast? Regular schedules for taking prasadam. Better offerings. How to chant better. how to control the mind? In Primary, Secondary, Bachelors studies we will find so many details!!
In the Campus Store we are putting cassettes of Srila Prabhupada chanting hare Krsna. Cook books etc. Order some!
