Hare Krsna. Welcome to Primary studies. Have
you finished your Kindergarten studies? Our Primary study is the "Upadesamrta", NECTAR OF INSTRUCTION, written 450 years ago by Rupa Goswami and then published by His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada in 1975 with a modern commentary. You can order a copy through the Campus Store. Rupa Goswami and his elder brother Sanatana Goswami were the Prime Ministers of Bengal under the Moslem conqueror, Nawab Hussain Shah. You can't imagine how rich Bengal was at that time. There is no place
in the world as opulent now as Bengal was then: Grains, spices, jewels, cloth, pearls, vastly learned poets, musicians, dramatists, physicians etc. etc. etc. And the leaders of all this aristocratic society "mandala pati" were Rupa and Sanatana Goswami. You can just imagine their homes with dozens of servants and ministers in the gently waving palm groves of Bengal with elegant carriages and parties of the "best" people. But, they weren't happy. So they went to Sri Krsna
Caitanya as humble beggars and begged Him to accept them as humble servants. Sri Krsna Caitanya was manifesting His preaching mission of chanting the Holy Names of God and dancing in emotional love of God as the highest religious principle in this age. St. Francis also preached this principle. Lord Caitanya accepted them and then they renounced all their wealth and power and lived as simple saints in the holy lands of Vrndavana and Jagannatha Puri in India. They had nothing but quilted cloths
and loin cloths but they were absorbed in the ecstatic emotional love of God demonstrated by Sri Krsna and the Gopis at Vrndavana 5,000 years ago. To establish Lord Caitanya's movement on literary and scriptural basis Rupa Goswami, who had been the Prime Minister of Bengal an enormous scholar, wrote over 11,000 verses (no word processor) in over 19 major books: Dramas, Songs, Ontology, Praxiology. And then he summarized everything in eleven verses, Upadesamrta, the essence of all advice. This
Upadesamrta is the primary and continuing study for this Anjana Suta Academy. Get it read it. We will include more study materials in this Primary study area as the time goes on.
