Devaki --: the wife of VASUDEVA and mother of Lord Krishna.

Devi--: used to denote a female with auspicious or divine qualities, As a name refers to DURGA.
dharma-: the eternal function of the living entity.

Dhira--: one who is not disturbed by material illusion.

Dhrtarastra--: the father who collaborated with his sons to cheat the PANDAVA brothers of their kingdom and fight against them in the Battle of KURUKSETRA.

Drona-: the military teacher of the PANDAVA brothers who was obliged to fight against them in the Battle of KURUKSETRA.

Dhuma--: Dark, moonless fortnight. Those who die during this opportune period for death may rise up to higher planets, only to return again, after death, to the earthly planet.

Diksa--: spiritual initiation in to the chanting of a mantra given by a spiritual master.

Duratma--: a cripple-minded person who is under the control of the external potency or the illusory energy (maya) of the Supreme Lord.

Durga--: the personified material energy of the Lord, and the wife of the demigod SIVA.

Duryodhana--: the son of DHRTARASTRA who led the fight against the PANDAVA brothers in the Battle of KURUKSETRA, stated in the Mahabharata to be the incarnation of evil.

Dvija-bandhu--: one born in a brahmana family but not qualified as a brahmana.
