Kala--: Eternal time.

Kali--See DURGA.
Kali-yuga--: the current VEDIC historical age (fourth and last in a cycle of four progressively degenerating ages) characterized by a progressive decline in spiritual knowledge and, consequently, the degeneration of human civilization. See also Satya Yuga.

kalpataru--: a "desire tree," which grows in the spiritual world and can immediately yield any fruit desirable.

kama--: material desire; lust.

Kamsa--: a demoniac king who, after instigating many fruitless attempts to kill KRSNA. was himself killed by Krishna.
Kanistha-adhikari--: a neophyte devotee, whose faith is not firm. a person in the lowest stage of realization of God. Religious wars and fanaticism is only found among kanisthas of every faith. The kanistha sees only the differences in outward appearances and cannot see the purpose behind rules and regulations, nor the ultimate singularity of purpose in all true religion or faith.

karma-: material, fruitive activity and its reactions; also, fruitive actions performed in accordance with Vedic injunctions. activity in the material world, which always entangles one in some reaction, whether good or bad.

Karma-bandhana--: work that binds one to the material world.

karma-kanda--: rituals recommended in the VEDAS for those interested in material benefits.

Karma-yoga--: offering the fruit of one's work to Krishna (usually performed with desires for material results.)

karmi--: a person who is trying to enjoy the results of his material activities, those engaged in activities of Karma Yoga for sense gratification.

Karna-: the eldest brother of the PANDAVAS who fought against them in the Battle of KURUKSETRA.

Katha Upanisad--See UPANISADS.
Kesava Kasmiri--: a famous scholar defeated in a poetry competition by Lord CAITANYA MAHAPRABHU.

kirtana--: singing or speaking in glorification of the Supreme Lord. See also SANKIRTANA.

Krodha-: anger.

Krpa--: a great warrior who fought against the PANDAVA brothers in the Battle of KURUKSETRA.

Krishna--: the Supreme Personality of Godhead, appearing in His original, two-armed form, He is the origin of all other forms and incarnations.

Krsna-katha--: topics spoken by or about Krishna.

Krishnaloka--See GOLOKA.

krishna-prasadam--See PRASADAM.

krishna-prema--: Pure love of Krishna without tinge of any material desire or contamination See PREMA.

ksatriya--: The royal, princely order in charge of the administration and defense of the government warrior or administrator; the second Vedic social order. See VARNAS.

Kunti--: the mother of the PANDAVAS, and an aunt of Lord KRSNA.

Kuruksetra--: an ancient pilgrimage site near New Delhi where the Battle of Kuruksetra was fought and the BHAGAVAD-GITA was spoken. See also DHRTARASTRA and PANDAVAS.
