The Vedas & Science division (BHAKTIVEDANTA INSTITUTE) is a non-profit, autonomous research foundation established in 1974 by Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada with centers in Bombay and San Francisco. The Institute promotes consciousness research within the framework of contemporary science in a variety of fields including, but not limited to, artificial intelligence, quantum mechanics, life’s origin, bioethics and philosophy of science. The format for the Institute’s activities includes organization of international conferences; in-house research and publications in the form of papers, monographs and books; and interaction with academic scholars through short-term and long-term fellowships.
The Institute will be offering M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs in Consciousness Studies in collaboration with one of India’s top technical schools, Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, Rajasthan, starting January 1997. Institute scholars regularly lecture at colleges and universities throughout the world. A state of the art multimedia center has been established at the Mumbai (Bombay) center, and videos on Vedic science and philosophy are under production.
