Kalachandji School
The Dallas Hare Krishna Temple is the site of Srila Prabhupada's first gurukula, a school for children run by devotees of Lord Krishna according to Vedic standards of education. Srila Prabhupada had wanted his disciples to establish gurukulas all over the world where children could receive first-class training in both material and spiritual knowledge.
Today, the Dallas gurukula offers children a drug-free, violence-free environment in which they can learn a full line of academics from grade levels K - 8th grade. A day's studies typically includes Mathematics, English, Drama, Science, History, Logic, and mapping skills. In addition to these traditional subjects, the curriculum also includes stories from the Vedic literatures, and children are taught to memorize verses from such texts as the Bhagavad-Gita. All graduates of Kalachandji School who went on to other high schools graduated with Honors.
