The New Govardhana Gurukula is a unique educational institution,where the students receive traditional academic training along with spiritual instruction in the process of Bhakti Yoga, devotional service to Sri Krishna. The school is located in a rural environment of stunning beauty where the students and teachers begin their day with temple worship and chanting of the Holy Name of Krishna. Primary theological training is in the texts of Bhagavad-Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam, two very ancient and famous Vedic scriptures.

    "Actually teachers or leaders of the materialistic society do not really know the goal of life. They appear to be very learned scholars, but the influence of the illlusory energy has taken away their knowledge. Real knowledge means searching out Krishna. All Vedic knowledge is meant for searching out Krishna because Krishna is the origin of everything." [ Srimad Bhagavatam 4.29.56 ]

    • The fundamental goal of a Krishna Conscious education will be to provide the children with the skills to be spiritually enlightened and productive members of society.

    • "One who has fixed his mind on the lotus feet of Krishna is to be understood as having the best education and as having studied all the Vedas." [Caitanya Bhagavat 3.45]

    • "Conquering the world by means of material education is not desirable.
      If one can engage in the devotional service of Krishna, his education is perfected." [13.173]

    • "The purpose of education is to understand Krishna and His devotional service. If one does not do so then education is false." [12.49]


    The Gurukula is currently educating children to year 10, however with community resourcing and a strong desire to educate our children fully to university level we are now initiating plans to provide a full term of high school education. The Gurukula is staffed by a number of expert and dedicated devotees; among them Rasanandi dasi, Jamuna Jaya dasi, Subha Laxmi dasi and Ambika dasi.
