In the middle of a winter struggle came a fortunate break for the London devotees: a meeting with George Harrison of the Beatles. Walking over and sitting down beside Syamasundara, George asked"where have you been? ,I've been trying meet the Hare Krishna people for the last couple of years:" Later George said: "I had a copy of the Hare Krishna Album with Srila Prabhupada singing Hare Krishna with the devotees. I'd had the record at least two years. You attract those things. So I used to play that a lot of the time. I was chanting the Hare Krishna mantra long before I met the devotees and I knew about Prabhupada because I had read all the liner notes on that album. I feel at home with Krsna. I think that's something that has been there from a previous birth.
....As Prabhupada was anxious about the London temple opening, he was also anxious about publishing the first volume of Krsna book. But he had no money. George told Prabhupada that everyday people were asking him for his money. But when Prabhupada explained the importance of the Krsna book and how George's donation would be devotional service to Krsna, George dismissed his regrets and paid the $19,000 the printing would cost.
