Initiated
By: Jayapataka Swami |
He did a lot of service for the BBT and Life-member preaching. His last words were “Jai Nrisimha” when he left his body in Mayapur. Manoram Murari was 45 years old. He left his body at 6 AM on Monday June 16. There were some devotees gathered around him and had kirtan. Managers were called and some of them came there. Devotees brought Caranamrta from Gour-Nitai (SP Bhajan Kutir) and put in his mouth just before he left. After they took his body for the darshan of Gour-Nitai and then set off for Navadvipa burning ghat.

I first met Manoram Murari Prabhu back in 1980 when I was living in Calcutta at the Rainy Street BBT offices. At that time he was just Murari and had been hired to work for the temple. What struck me about him was that he was a very simple person; by this I mean he was completely guileless and sincere. He was exceptionally kind and very self-sacrificing. Sometimes the devotees were a little rough on him but he just tolerated it. I was not surprised when he became a devotee because he personified so many beautiful devotional qualities. Even before he was initiated he would rigidly follow Vedic customs like ekadasi. I remember that once when a close family member died he shaved his head and did not brush his teeth during the period of contamination. I do not know who that was more austere for him or us. Anyway, everyone who knew him could tell he was very sincere and he had no enemies. I was very shocked and saddened to hear of his sudden death at such a young age.

Prabhus,
When I worked for BBT Calcutta, Rainey park in 1980, I had needed a fellow to run errands. When he was first brought to me I had heard of his fate in being the sole wage earner for his mother. He had been recommended by another worker at the time. When he first came I asked him how much he wanted to be paid. He said Rs. 160 per month. I said absolutely not...... and as his face drooped I said Rs. 300 per month and nothing less. He was such a dedicated worker and never greedy. I would try to always supplement his pay and give whatever we could extra in prasadam and clothing. He was such a selfless worker and did whatever necessary to help in the printing of Srila Prabhupada's books. Working whatever hours were necessary.
He would always hold our first son Jatayu and had so much love for him. He became
part of our family. Eventually we had to leave due to visa problems, and had
lost touch with him. Later I heard he had become a devotee. We always felt he
was a devotee. He has received the mercy and who can ever figure out the plan
of Sri Krishna and our beloved Srila Prabhupada. I hope one day I can be as
fortunate to remember the name/names of the Supreme Lord and die in the Holy
Dham.
Your servant,,
