Nigama Prabhu was born on April 27th 1976 in Slovenia, (former Yugoslavia) to a Muslim family. He met the devotees at age 14 and at age 16 moved into the temple. He went on many preaching missions and at 17 left Slovenia to travel with Padayatra for two years. At age 21 he came to the United States where he ended up in the Alachua community where he was befriended by the family of gurukulis in the area. Nigama was a quiet, funny, and caring person who always was trying to help his friends in need and he was especially fond of singing bhajans. On Thursday, September 2nd 1999, Nigama died. He was 23 years old.

Nigama joined ISKCON as part of a big group of youth friends who all joined together in Slovenia -- some of whom are Banka-candra das and Bhairava-dambara das. He spent several years in the New Cadrodaya Mandir, Almviks Gard, Sweden. He served the Panca Tattva Deities there, lead wonderful kirtans and bhajans, and helped out on the farm the best he could, whether it was caring for the cows or running the sawmill. Nigama left Sweden and went to the US. In the US he first stayed in Orlando, helping out with the FFL program there. Later, he came to Alachua, where several of his good friends lived.
I personally remember Nigama as a good friend with an enormous taste for bhajan and kirtan. He was always enthusiastic about his services, no matter what they were, and outwardly always very optimistic.
