Jagad-guru-
"spiritual master of the universe."
 
Jagannatha, Baladeva, and Subhadra--
The Deity of Lord KRSNA as Jagannatha ("Lord of the Universe"), together with His brother, Baladeva, and sister, Subhadra.
 
Jagannatha Puri (Jagannatha-dhama) --
a city on the coast of Orissa, a province in eastern India; the holy city of the temple and Deity of Lord JAGANNATHA.
 
Jana-sanga -
association with persons not interested in Krishna consciousness.
 
Janmastami--
Krishna's appearance day.
 
Japa-mala--
string of 108 prayer beads for chanting the Hare Krsna maha-mantra.
 
Jayadratha--
a chief enemy of the PANDAVAS in the Battle of KURUKSETRA. Married to the only daughter of Dhrtasrastra and Gandhari.
 
jiva--
the individual living entity, who is an eternal minute part of the Supreme Lord. The living spirit, or vital force.
 
Jiva-shakti--
the living force.
 
Jivatmas--
minute living entities.
 
Jiva Gosvami--
one of the six VAISNAVA spiritual masters who directly followed Lord CAITANYA MAHAPRABHU and systematically presented His teachings.
 
Jnana--
knowledge; the culture of knowledge.
 
Jnani--
one who tries to reach the Supreme Absolute by cultivation of empirical, speculative knowledge. One who considers his own logic and reason are sufficient to understand everything.
