clay from the Holy places of Krishna's pastimes (Vrndavan, Mayapur, Dvaraka, Mathura) is used to mark the body with the sign of a Vrndavana Vaisnava. (a devotee of Krishna) this is used to signify that the body is a temple of Visnu the Supreme Lord, and dedicated to His service.

the spiritual nature, which is three fourths of the Lord's energy.

those in the renounced order of life.
