This Home Page outlines the functionary services that Pt. Jaya Tirtha Charan dasa does in relation to the community, and more specifically the devotees of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) and the mass of congregational devotees, Nama Hattas, Indian Communities, and broader minded non-Hindus.

In every culture or belief system there are specific developmental, and maturational stages in one's life that are recognised. Not only are they recognised, but also celebrated by devotionally orientated social rituals. Together the individual person shares their growth, be it material, or spiritual, with all of their extended family around them. In so doing there are also set authorised / approved / proven "rites of passage", "spiritual quests", "tests by fire", etc., tests, that one naturally undergoes in order to qualify for passing them, graduating, before moving onto the next stage of one's life.
In this Home page and related links you will appreciate the wholistic approach to a healthy society in general, as well as natural holistic living of any set individual devotee. The structure of society as we are propagating it is based around simple, practical implementation and development of the Daivi Varna-Ashram system of Social interactive living. The term Daivi emphasises that it is God centred, and not otherwise. Recognising the NEED for social balance, security and direction, we're willingly accepting our place in the structure of the Universe with God as its centre. A friend once gave me this analogy; If one can imagine life as being likened to a pool. Each of us has our allotted worth to be utilised in a positive manner. So doing if we take that worth / ability / attribute and offer it into the central focus of the Pool (God - Krishna, Rama, Vishnu, Narayana, Allah, Buddha, Kristos, etc.) in harmony with our common brethren. Then nice concentric circles ripple out from Him. I, however, everyone tries to throw in their own materially motivated, or invented two penneth as they like, when they like - instead of concentric ripples we get ego-centric clashes of interest. In this way we are working practically on a day to day basis while utilising the wisdom of the past to create a better future for all of us.
Astrological "auspiciousness" for performance of Samskaras and other Dharmic or Sat Kriya Karmanas is different from the sacridity of an auspicious event such as the appearance or disappearance of a great saintly spiritual preceptor, an incarnation of the Lord, etc., which is in itself all auspicious. As such, days like this found in the Panjika are meant for remembrance of the Lord, and the wonderful interactions and pastimes that He has with His pure devotees, and generally not for performance of other activities. The same is to be said for sacred days like Ekadasi, Dwadasi, Purnima, and Amavasya, as well as sacred places like the Holy Dhams of Mayapur, Vrindavan, Puri or South India, etc., which are considered to be the Mother or instigator(s) of devotion. Astrological "auspiciousness" as identified herein is in accordance with co-ordinates found in the sacred Muhurtha shastra; Tantra Sara of Sripad Madhwacarya, and his commentary on Brahmanda Purana (Kala-vidya) cited in SB 11:3:26p; Sat Kriya Sara Dipika of Srila Gopal Bhatta Goswami; the teachings of HDG Srila A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada; Muhurtha Tattwa of B.V Raman; Kalaprakashika of Subramaniyam Iyer, Jyotish Vedanga of Deshpande from Rg, Yajur, and Arthava Veda; Samskara Vidhi of Sri Vaidyanath Shastri, etc. Thus we have faith in the Vaishnava Tantras, the original Vedas, and the Mahabharata, which includes the Bhagavad Gita and which is considered the fifth Veda. The Vedic knowledge originally emanated from the breathing of Lord Vishnu, and Vedic literature has been compiled in literary form by Srila Krishna Dwarpayana Veda-Vyasadeva, the incarnation of the same Lord Vishnu. Therefore, Lord Visnu should be understood to be the personal speaker of all this Vedic literature.(SB 11:3:26p.)
Muhurtha Astrology
(optimising the right place at the right time)
For thousands of years in India people have relied on seeking out higher authority to make use of natural auspicious and inauspicious times that could affect major decisions in their lives. This science gives insights into unseen factors that we can optimise or avoid in our day to day functions. Astrology, with support from the rishis, sages and ancient scriptures of India help us to see what ordinarily we might not be able to. Time Placement astrology (Muhurtha Astrology) allows us to use the best times of the day, specifically avoiding times that could cause impediments to personal, business, community, social, and even national achievement. Without hesitation we follow train, bus, coach, air-line, and even tide time tables - similarly Muhurtha astrology follows natural laws for utilising the correct time for our chosen destination. To achieve this we use the proven movements of planets (grahas), zodiac months (lagnas), light and dark fortnights (pakshas), phases of the moon (tithis), stellar constellations (nakshatras), Auspicious and inauspicious timings (Rahu-kalam, Yama-ghantam, Guli-kalam), unions of times (yogas - amrida, siddha, and maran), through our Vaishnava Panjika, and Panchangam.
Vedic Samskaras
(interlinking our conditional life with our constitutional position)
There are various functions that we can perform for you, generally they come under the heading of Samskaras (Purificatory Rites) and are performed at the various conjunctions of one's life; Marriage Synastry (Marriage Compatibility); Marriage (Vivaha); Buying or building a House (Grha Rambha); Moving Into a New House (Grha Pravesham); Employment; Business; Conception of children (Garbhadhanam); Genetic Selection (Pumsavan); Recognising the Conscious Child in the Womb (Simantonayana); For Safe Birth Delivery (Soshyanti Karma); Birth Ceremony (Jata Karma); Name Giving (Naam Karana); First Journey Outside the Home (Niskramanam); Ceremony for continuing health of the child (Pausti Karma); First Grains (Annaprashna); Head Shaving (Chuda Karan - Mundan); Ear Piercing (Karna Beda); Beginning of Education (Vidya Rambha); Sacred Thread (Upanayana); Graduation From Studies (Samavartana); Fire Sacrificial Ceremonies for Auspiciousness (Purusha Shukta Homa - Ayushmana / Shanti Homas); Last Rites (Antyesthi); Yearly Oblations for the Departed Family Members (Sraddha Kriya); Ratnas and Uparatnas (Choosing, and Placement of Gems on the body).
Astrology
(Your nature, challenges and obstacles revealed)
Astrology in all the cultures of the world is an accepted, and proven material science that allows us insights into the nature of persons, and future possibilities that may not seem apparent to our blunt limited senses. Utilising the teachings of Jyotish Shastra, and the accuracy of modern technology. Find out where astrologically you are presently, or through what time periods (Mahadasas, Dasas / Bhuktis, Antaradasas, etc.), you will travel in your sojourn through life. See what obstacles may present themselves, and find out how to avoid them. Arm yourself, your family, your business with knowledge. Children's Birth Charts, Times for travel, Major Decisions in life. You wouldn't go to the railway station without first checking the time table, or go to the air-port without first confirming your flight details, or go out to the beach to sun-bathe on a rainy day. Why then attempt to buy or place a house on ground that is shaky; why enter into litigation if there's no sign of winning; why try to conceive any project in an infertile environment / womb. Would we try to consider marrying a couple like the mongoose and the snake, the cat and the dog, the elephant and the mouse, or a snake and a frog??? No we wouldn't! Would you really go to the beach to watch a Tsunomi, stay outside to view a hurricane, plant your crops in the path of a flood, or buy into a business, or a car if you knew it had the potential to be a bomb? etc. I would suggest, and hope that we wouldn't!!!
